About I’ll Be Around
“I’ll Be Around” is one of Alec Wilder’s loveliest and most touching ballads. Like most of Wilder’s work, it’s a very fine composition and works beautifully with his lyric. Early recordings were made by Cab Calloway and also by the Mills Brothers. After Tony Bennett’s 1963 recording, the song had a revival in interest. This song has also been recorded by Billie Holiday, Rosemary Clooney, Ruby Braff and Marian McPartland.

Lyrics

I’ll be around,
No matter how
You treat me now
I’ll be around from now on.

Your latest love
Can never last,
And when its past,
I’ll be around when he’s gone

Good-bye again,
And if you find a love like mine
Just now and then,
Oh drop a line to say you `re feeling fine

And when things go wrong
Perhaps you’ll see
You’re meant for me
So I’ll be around when he’s gone.

Good-bye again,
And if you find a love like mine
Just now and then,
Oh drop a line to say your feeling fine

And when things go wrong
Perhaps you’ll see
You’re meant for me
So I’ll be around when he’s gone.
