Lyrics

Young and warm and wonderful
You are all I dreamed you’d be
Dreams that seemed improbable
All at once have come true, now I see

Every searching heart finds it’s happiness
Love is only a matter of time
Young and warm and wonderful at last
You’re here, my love, and love is mine

Every searching heart finds it’s happiness
Love is only a matter of time
Young and warm and wonderful at last
You’re here, my love, and love is mine

“You’re So Right For Me” was written for the 1958 musical Oh, Captain!, which ran for 192 performances on Broadway in 1958. The show was directed José Ferrer and starred Tony Randall. Though nominated in a number of Tony categories, it won none.

Lyrics

You’re so right for me.
(Keep sayin’ it, I’m okayin’ it.)
Just the one for me.
(You’re sellin’ me, keep on tellin’ me.)
How I need your clinging caress!
Your fabulous lips!
Your voice saying “yes!”
How could I replace
(hey cover girl you’re my lover girl.)
The light that lights your face?
(Let’s kiss a lot, live like this a lot.)
Now I see the way it’s mean to be
‘Cause you’re so right for me.

About You Can’t Love ‘Em All
Jimmy Van Heusen wrote “You Can’t Love ‘Em All” for the 1959 Bing Crosby movie Say One For Me.

Lyrics

You can’t love ’em all
You can’t love ’em all
Love may be wonderful but the chances are small
You can’t land each one that passes by
But you can try
You can try
You can try

You can’t kiss ’em all
Oh, you can’t kiss them all
The ones who have tried have found that they’re not quite that tall
They’ll call you an optimistic dope
Oh, you can hope
You can hope
You can hope

They’ve been able to prove
There are mountains you can move
They’ve been able to show
There’s a way to make rain and snow
But you simply can’t love ’em all
No you can’t love ’em all
’cause one day that one gal will catch your eye
And you’ll know why
You’ll know why
You will know why

’cause one day that one chick will make you sigh
And you’ll know why
Yeah, you’ll know why
You’ll know why you can’t love ’em all

About When I Fall In Love
“When I Fall in Love” was written for the 1952 romantic war film One Minute to Zero, starring Robert Mitchum and Ann Blyth. The tag line on the movie poster was “Back of every man of action …. there’s a woman made for love.” Well, it was 1952.

Lyrics

When I fall in love it will be forever
Or I’ll never fall in love
In a restless world like this is
Love is ended before it’s begun
And too many moonlight kisses
Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun

When I give my heart it will be completely
Or I’ll never give my heart
And the moment I can feel that you feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you.

PROFILE
Songwriter Fred Hellerman (as Fred Brooks)
Year Written ca. 1958
About The Way That I Feel
Fred Hellerman was an original member of the The Weavers and wrote many songs for that group. In the 1950s, the group was blacklisted due to the since-discredited testimony of an FBI informant to the House UnAmerican Activities Committee, headed by Joe McCarthy. He continued to compose under the name Fred Brooks. Hellerman was the musical director for the 1969 film Alice’s Restaurant. Harry Belafonte was the first artist to record “The Way That I Feel.”

Lyrics

This is the way that I do feel
I feel it every where I go
I feel just like an engine
That lost its driving wheel

I’m feeling down as a man can feel
Since my baby said that she don’t want me hangin’ round
Feel like a tin can just a rusting way out on that dumpin’ ground
It sure is hard to stumble down when you ain’t got no place to fall
Seems like in the whole wide world I ain’t got no place at all Yeah

Well I’m feeling like a stranger here
I feel like a stranger everywhere
Feel like I like to go back home
But I’m even a stranger there

Well I’ve tried, God knows I’ve tried
To go my way and leave the worry past behind
But every time the sun goes down
My baby stays on my mind.
