About Here’s That Rainy Day | |
“Here’s That Rainy Day” was written for the Broadway musical Carnival in Flanders, which only ran for six performances. This song, however, is quite good and has remained a popular ballad over the years. In addition to Bennett’s recording, it has also been recorded by those such as Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, Steve Lawrence, Billy Eckstine and Ann Hampton Calloway. The song is also proved a favorite of jazz instrumentalists, including Dave Brubeck, Chet Baker, Paul Desmond and Art Pepper, among many others. |
Lyrics
Maybe
I should have saved
Those leftover dreams
Funny
But here’s that rainy day
Here’s that rainy day
They told me about
And I laughed at the thought
That it might turn out this way
Where is that worn out wish
That I threw aside
After it brought my love so near
Funny how love becomes
A cold rainy day
Funny
That rainy day is here
It’s funny
How love becomes
A cold rainy day
Funny
That rainy day is here
